I love it when an app does something quite amazing, so I devoted some time to reviewing Photoshop Elements 21, the latest version, and found it to be right up there with the best of the best. I’ve come to expect so much from Photoshop, from its features, the sheer power of the program, and its reliability, that I wanted to give a nod to those who produce it and team up with Adobe.

Over the last decade or so, features have come and gone, but the basic workhorse of digital image manipulation — editing, adjusting, and making things better — has remained. The application continues to support the products that I have relied on in the past. Plus, the user interface remains consistent and efficient.

As with the name, Photoshop Elements is a freeware product geared to casual and limited users who want to get a taste of what Image Editing is all about. Still, there are plenty of challenges, quirks, and even some gotchas.

Elements comes with a set of software tools for creating and editing basic images, images of text, and videos. The strong point of Elements is in its video editing capability. I’m not a video person, but it’s really easy to use.

I have to agree with you that this is a huge issue with the software. We use a PC and our best brands of printers since the beginning. Lightroom, meanwhile, tried to educate me and my beloved to adjust our workflow for its new features. And also to use them. If only I had followed that advice, maybe my workflow wouldn’t have suffered as much.
